Brazos ISD is receiving proposals for a representative to act as the third party administrator for the employee benefits services provided to the staff at Brazos ISD. This would require all enrollment and administration of benefit services provided including all necessary reporting and paperwork to provide services. The benefits package to be offered must include the following: Employer paid basic life with AD&D, Voluntary term life, AD&D, Dental, Vision, Disability Income, Cancer, Accident and Critical Illness, Identity Theft, Flexible Spending Accounts. Staff already enrolled in such plans who wish to maintain them will be allowed to do so and deal with the vendors of those programs independently from the school district. Hammermiller-Lopez wed in June

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hammermiller of Eagle Lake announce the engagement of their daughter Heidi Suzanne Hammermiller of Palacios to Javier Lopez, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jose Lopez of Eagle Lake. Heidi is the granddaughter of Thomas Hammermiller and the late Gladys Hammermiller of Orchard and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Brenk of Glen Flora. Heidi graduated from Rice Consolidated in 2003 and the University of Houston, Victoria in 2007. She is currently employed by Central Elementary in Palacios. Javier graduated from Rice Consolidated in 2003 and Universal Technical Institute in 2005. He is currently employed by Holt Caterpillar in Austin. The couple plan their wedding for 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 18 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis.

The City of Wallis conducted public hearings on September 9, 2009 and September 16, 2009 on a proposal to increase the total tax revenues of The City of Wallis from properties on the tax roll in the preceding year by 1.07% percent.
