Hammermiller-Lopez wed in June

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hammermiller of Eagle Lake announce the engagement of their daughter Heidi Suzanne Hammermiller of Palacios to Javier Lopez, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jose Lopez of Eagle Lake. Heidi is the granddaughter of Thomas Hammermiller and the late Gladys Hammermiller of Orchard and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Brenk of Glen Flora. Heidi graduated from Rice Consolidated in 2003 and the University of Houston, Victoria in 2007. She is currently employed by Central Elementary in Palacios. Javier graduated from Rice Consolidated in 2003 and Universal Technical Institute in 2005. He is currently employed by Holt Caterpillar in Austin. The couple plan their wedding for 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 18 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis.

The City of Wallis conducted public hearings on September 9, 2009 and September 16, 2009 on a proposal to increase the total tax revenues of The City of Wallis from properties on the tax roll in the preceding year by 1.07% percent.

AUSTIN COUNTY FISCAL YEAR 2009-2010 BUDGET
As required by law, and by directive of the Commissioners Court of Austin County, Texas, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the PUBLIC HEARING on the proposed Fiscal Year 2009-2010 Budget for Austin County will be held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 8, 2009, in the Commissioners Court Room of the Austin County Courthouse, One East Main, Bellville, Texas. This budget will raise more total property taxes than last year’s budget by $841,803 or 5.7%, and of that amount $311,434 is tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year. The fiscal year 2009-2010 Budget will be considered and acted upon and officially adopted at a meeting of the Court following this Public Hearing. The proposed budget shall be available for public inspection by any person in the County Clerk, County Judge or County Auditor’s Offices, One East Main, Bellville, Texas 77418 beginning September 2, and will also be posted at http://www.austincounty.com.

Notice of Tax Revenue Increase
Austin County conducted public hearings on August 24, 2009 and August 31, 2009 on a proposal to increase the total tax revenues of Austin County from properties on the tax roll in the preceding year by 5.7% percent.
The total tax revenue raised last year at last year’s tax rate of .4796 for each $100 of taxable value was $10,390,605.

The City of Wallis will hold two public hearings on a proposal to increase total tax revenues from properties on the tax roll in the preceding tax year by 1.07 percent (percentage by which proposed tax rate exceeds lower of rollback tax rate or effective tax calculated under Chapter 26, Tax Code). Your individual taxes may increase at a greater or lesser rate, or even decrease, depending on the change in the taxable value of your property in relation to the change in taxable value of all other property and the tax rate that is adopted.
The first public hearing will be held on September 9, 2009 at 6:00 p.m.at 6810 Guyler St., Bldg. B., Wallis, Texas.

The Austin County Emergency Service District #3 will hold a meeting at 7:30 p.m. on August 21, 2009 at 19 Birch Street, Wallis, Texas to consider adopting a proposed tax rate for tax year 2009. The proposed tax rate is .06 per $100 of value.

REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
The City of Wallis has received a 2009 Texas Community Development Block Grant award from the Office of Rural Community Affairs under the Planning/Capacity Building Fund. We are soliciting proposals from professional planners to provide planning services. Proposals accepted until 4:00 PM on August 27, 2009 at the City Hall, Attn: City Secretary at 6810 Guyler, No. B, Wallis TX 77485-0190. We reserve the rights to negotiate with all firms submitting proposals per the Texas Professional Services Procurement Act and UGCMS, and to reject any or all submittals.
