Old world, new world, same world

There are many links from the old world and the Czech Republic to this area of Texas. Thanks to efforts of some area natives who are proud of their Czech heritage, an inquisitive reporter for a Czech newspaper and some Divine Intervention, new relationships have developed which have narrowed the distance from here to ‘behind the pond.”
Joe Novosad, a Frydek native, began researching family roots many years ago and that research led to a visit to the home of his ancestors (not too distant) in the Czech Republic.

The Nowak family has many reasons to celebrate

Henry S. Nowak, native of Wallis, has many reasons to celebrate. BIRTHDAYS are always fun to celebrate especially when you’ve attained the age of 81 years as Henry did on Saturday, Jan. 30.
Family is another reason to celebrate and he was surrounded by them at his home in Houston as they enjoyed a turkey, dressing, and ham dinner with all the trimmings, topped off with desserts and a big chocolate cake. (more…)

Delso graduates from Sam Houston State University

Friends and family celebrated as Wayne Delso graduated from Sam Houston State University (SHSU) on Dec. 19, 2009. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Design and Development. Wayne is the son of Jerry and Mary Delso of Wallis. Pictured with him is his sister, Heather, who also attends SHSU.

Brummett, Delso to exchange vows in May

Gary and Vickie Brummett of Cypress are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Danielle Jade Brummett to Wayne Arnold Delso of Wallis.
Danielle is a 2006 graduate of Cypress Fairbanks High School and will receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in May from Sam Houston State University.

Ryan Jeffrey Kramer

Ryan Jeffrey Kramer was born Oct. 14 at 7:16 a.m. in College Station at College Station Medical Center. He weighed 8 pounds 4 oz and was 21 inches long. He was welcomed home by his big sister Susan. Proud parents are Brian and Emily Kramer of College Station. Proud grandmothers are Susan Kramer of Wallis and Susan Walker of Sugar Land. Great grandmother is Frances Valis of Wallis. Proud aunt and uncle are Michelle and Kevin Schulte of Brenham.

Riley Nichole Dostal

Mathew and Jessica Dostal of Jacksonville, NC are proud to announce the birth of their first daughter, Riley Nichole Dostal born Dec. 14, 2009 at 8:08 p.m. in the Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune, Jacksonville, NC. She weighed 6 lbs. 8 oz. and measured 19.5 inches long. Riley’s grandparents are Chuck and Sharon Dostal of Orchard and David and Kyle Mansfield and Arthur Jones, all of Maryland. Her aunt and uncle are Francesca and Dale Dostal of Orchard. Great-grandparents are Betsy and Rich McInvale of Orchard, Bill and Pam Dostal of Richmond and Francesca Senkowsky of Florida.

Courtney is the granddaughter of Louise Martin and the late Wayland Martin of Pasadena and Ideline Leger-Deshotels and the late Allen Leger of Jennings, La. Daft, Kuhn united in marriage

A beautiful outdoor evening ceremony took place on Sept. 6 at the Safari Texas Ranch in Richmond where Renee Clark Kuhn and Brian Allen Daft were united in marriage.
The beautiful bride was given in marriage by her parents, Lale and Janine Kuhn. Her father escorted her down the aisle, where he proudly gave her hand to Brian in marriage. The aisle was adorned with red, pink and white rose pedals and lanterns glowing with candles.
The groom is the son of Donald and Pamla Daft of Wallis and the grandson of Patricia Byas and Mary Daft also of Wallis.
Ric Walters from the Wallis United Methodist Church performed the ceremony.

Sage Isabella Aguilar

Thomas, Meagan, Stephanie, Jenna, Lexy, Andrea and Stephen Ryan would like to announce the arrival of their new cousin Sage Isabella. She was born Aug. 5 at Methodist Hospital in Sugar Land.
She weighed 8 lbs. 8 oz. and was 20 inches long. Her proud mother is Racheal Aguilar of Wallis and her grandparents are Thomas and Lupe Aguilar of Orchard. She is also welcomed by her aunts and uncles.

Sluis, Zapp Exchange Vows

Michelle Lynn Zapp and Wesley Shay Sluis were united in marriage on Sunday, April 5 at five o’clock in the evening during a sunset service overlooking Clear Lake. Kevin Hans Sluis, the groom’s brother, officiated.
