COLTON FOSTER HUDGINS

Clay and Stacy Hudgins of Orchard are proud to announce the birth of their son, Colton Foster Hudgins, born on Tuesday, July 27, 2010. Colton was born in the Methodist Hospital in Sugar Land at 9:42 a.m., weighing in at 7 pounds 12 ounces and measuring 21 inches long. Grandparents are Nita and Al Sulak of Orchard, and Bill and Joyce Hudgins of Hungerford. Great-grandparents are Bernice Sliva and the late Florian Sliva, Sr., the late Fred and Marie Sulak, I.C. Minks and the late Alice Minks, and the late Edgar and Allene Hudgins.

Kacey Blaire Christensen

Kacey Blaire Christensen was born Aug. 2 and is the daughter of Steve and Layla Christensen of College Station. She was welcomed home by big sister Schyler and big brother Tyler.
Kacey is the granddaughter of Donald and Veronica Hodges of Wallis and Judy Christensen of Houston. Her proud great-grandparents are Talmage and Irene Hodges of Orchard.

Sliva, Oliver to wed

Jr. and Liz Sliva of Wallis are proud to announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter Felicia Ann Sliva, to Patrick Eugene Oliver, son of Ms. Debra Oliver of Rosenberg. Felicia is the granddaughter of Frank and Gloria Mikes of Wallis and Bernice Sliva and the late Florian Sliva of Orchard. Patrick is the grandson of Bernice Oliver and the late Jr. Oliver of Katy. Felicia is a 2008 graduate of Texas State University and is currently employed at Sliva Automotive. Patrick is a 2008 graduate of Mary Hardin-Baylor and is currently employed at Brazos ISD as a teacher and coach. The couple will exchange their vows on the evening of July 17, 2010 in Kyle, TX. They will reside in Rosenberg.

Wilsons announce birth of first child

Roy and Jamie Wilson of Yancey are proud to announce the birth of their first child, Joan Aileene Wilson. She was born June 17 at 11:59 a.m. at Medina Regional Hospital in Hondo. She weighed 8 lb 11 oz and measured 21-1/4 inches in length. Her grandparents are Johnny and Joanie Griffin of Sealy and Tommy and Madelyn Wilson of Yancey. Great Grandparents are Dorothy Griffin of Brookshire and the late James Griffin; Irene Fohn of D’hanis and the late Hermann Fohn; the late Marvin and Alvina Crawford; the late A.R. and Mary Klatt; and the late Roy and Delores Wilson.

Ellis, Luevano to exchange vows

Jack and Donna Ellis of Wallis are proud to announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter, Kathryn Jeanine Ellis, to Hector Rocha Luevano Jr., son of Hector Sr. and Noemi Luevano of Uvalde. Ms. Ellis is the granddaughter of Jeanette Begley of Matthews, Ga., the late H.J. Ellis of West Columbia, and the late Wallis residents Vance and Esterline Cooper. Kathryn currently teaches sophomore English at Lehman High School in Kyle and resides in Austin. Hector will begin the Department of Public Safety State Trooper Academy in Austin this June. They will exchange their vows before God, family and friends on June 11, 2010, in Kyle.

Travis Alexander Kovar

Kenneth and Wanda Kovar are proud to announce the birth of their son Travis Alexander. Travis was born Feb. 23, 2010 at 7:47 a.m. at Memorial Hermann Katy. He weighed 7 lbs. 15 oz. and measured 20.5 inches in length.
Travis was welcomed home by his big sisters, Savanah and Sierra. Proud grandparents are Frank and Rose Kovar and Bennie and Mary Kanak, all of Wallis.

Devin Daniel Gamble

Dana and Nichole Gamble are proud to announce the arrival of their son, Devin Daniel. The little man arrived on April 1 weighing in at 8 lbs. 1 oz and was 21 inches long. He has made his new home in Katy. First time proud grandparents are Hub and Jo Gamble of Wallis, Jacque Kennon of Sugar Land and Steve Mitchell of Brookshire.

There are many links from the old world and the Czech Republic to this area of Texas. Thanks to efforts of some area natives who are proud of their Czech heritage, an inquisitive reporter for a Czech newspaper and some Divine Intervention, new relationships have developed which have narrowed the distance from here to ‘behind the pond.”
Joe Novosad, a Frydek native, began researching family roots many years ago and that research led to a visit to the home of his ancestors (not too distant) in the Czech Republic.

The Nowak family has many reasons to celebrate

Henry S. Nowak, native of Wallis, has many reasons to celebrate. BIRTHDAYS are always fun to celebrate especially when you’ve attained the age of 81 years as Henry did on Saturday, Jan. 30.
Family is another reason to celebrate and he was surrounded by them at his home in Houston as they enjoyed a turkey, dressing, and ham dinner with all the trimmings, topped off with desserts and a big chocolate cake. (more…)

Delso graduates from Sam Houston State University

Friends and family celebrated as Wayne Delso graduated from Sam Houston State University (SHSU) on Dec. 19, 2009. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Design and Development. Wayne is the son of Jerry and Mary Delso of Wallis. Pictured with him is his sister, Heather, who also attends SHSU.
