    Bernice Stavinoha

    A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 10:30 a.m. at Guardian Angel Church in Wallis with the Rosary preceding the service. Bernice, age 70, a life long resident of Wallis went to be with the Lord on Jan. 25, 2012. Born April 7, 1941 in East Bernard, she was a life long member of the Guardian Angel Church and was an active member of the Wallis Chamber of Commerce for many years.
    She is survived by three brothers: Marvin, James and wife Evelyn and Gerald and wife Tweety Stavinoha, all of Wallis; and one sister Ellen Bordelon of Little Elm, Texas. She is also survived by one nephew, six nieces, numerous great nieces and nephews.
    Memorial donations may be made to Austin County Medic 4 and Helping One Another (Meals on Wheels).
    Arrangements were under the direction of Knesek and Sons Funeral Home of Wallis.

    Funeral Mass for Jerome "Jerry" Paul Dubec, 71, of San Felipe will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Needville with interment following at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
    Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a Rosary and wake service at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012 at the Davis Chapel in Needville.

    Obituary-Bernice Lamp

    Bernice Lamp, a long-time resident of Sealy, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, the 18th of December.
    Born July 13, 1933 in Frydek, Texas, Bernice was the youngest of 7 children to John and Theresa Stastny. Bernice married her sweetheart, Lloyd A. Lamp on April 24, 1953 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy. She was an active volunteer within her community and church; however, she believed her most important roles in life were being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
    Bernice is survived by her daughter Arlene Cloyd and husband Alan, and son Mark Lamp and wife Wendy—all of Bellville; grandchildren Aimee Wieland and husband Steve of Montgomery, Alabama, Lari Samford and husband Jason of Bellville, Mandie Radcliffe and husband Scott of Austin, and Reagan Lamp of Bellville; and great-grandchildren Ellen Samford, Clarendon Wieland and Baby Radcliffe.
    She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd A. Lamp; son, John Lamp; granddaughter, Alyssa Lamp; parents, John and Theresa Stastny; sister, Anastasia Mlcak; and brothers John, Louis, Frank, Cyril, and Arnold Stastny.
    Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 20th at noon at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy with Father Eric Pitre and Father Tim Bucek officiating. Visitation will begin on Monday, December 19th at 4:30 pm at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy followed by a vigil and rosary at 6:30 pm.
    Pallbearers will be Albert Sodolak, Darrin Koym, Andy Felchak, Harvey Ermis, Willie Kutra and Joe John Marusick.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church, 525 5th Street, Sealy, TX 77474 or the KJZT Memorial Scholarship fund, P.O. Box 18896, Austin, Texas 78760.

    Mary Mendoza Macias

    A funeral mass for Mary Mendoza Macias, 87, of Wallis was celebrated on Tuesday, Sept. 20 from the Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis with Rev. Thuy Nugyen, celebrant. Interment followed in the Davis-Greenlawn Memorial Park in Richmond. Pallbearers were members of Mary’s family.
    Mary was born in Mexico to Acencion and Eustulia (Terraza) Mendoza on Oct. 16, 1923. She was a homemaker and a member of the Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis.

    Alicia K. Vavricka service on Friday

    Alicia K. Vavricka, 53, of Wallis, Texas passed away, Tuesday, August 9, 2011 in Sugar Land, Texas. She was born in Daytona Beach, Florida on Feburary 15, 1958 to Richard Powell and Emma Sue Harrison. Alicia was a buyer for Owens-Minor Health Care. Her favorite hobby was her granddaughter Caroline.

    Alicia is survived by her husband, Edward Vavricka of Wallis, Texas. Her mother Emma Sue Harvey of Manor, Texas. A son Lance Vavricka of Wallis, Texas. Three sisters Pat Mooney and husband Russell of Garland, Texas, Kim Elliott of Manor, Texas and Pam Webb of Manor, Texas, and her granddaughter Caroline Vavricka.

    She was preceded in death by her father.
    Visitation will be Friday August 12, 2011, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Knesek & Sons Funeral Home in Wallis. Memorial Service will be Friday August 12, 2011, 7:00 p.m.

    Daniel B. Prihoda

    Funeral Services for Daniel B. Prihoda, 69, of Wallis were held Thursday, May 26 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis with Rev. Thuy Quang Nguyen celebrating the Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal. Rosary and Wake Service were Wednesday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church. Interment was in Guardian Angel Mausoleum. Pallbearers were Glen Blahuta, Gene Hruzek, James Vitek, Eugene Mieth, Ronnie Novosad, Jason Roberts, Donald Bartos and Joe Vykukal. Honorary pallbearers were Taylor Tondre, Shelby Tondre, Dalton Prihoda, Cade Prihoda, Tyler Vasut and Mason Vasut.

    OPHELIA JOHNSON

    Funeral Services for Ophelia Johnson, 99, of Wallis were held on Sunday from Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Kelvin Love officiating. Interment followed in the Hillside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Elmus Campbell, Benjamin Humphrey, Corey Humphrey, Chad Leonard, Clint McCarley, and Colin Teagle. Honorary pallbearers were the Evergreen Deacon Board, Emmitt Dickerson, Harvey Hayes, Jr., Frank Humphrey, Joe Leonard, Jr. and Dalton Teagle. On a cool brisk December day in Columbus, Texas, Aldonia Wright and Robert Jones birthed a strong brown beautiful baby girl who was named Ophelia. (more…)

    Mary Kay Hilton Lacombe

    A celebration of Mary Kay Hilton Lacombe’s life will be held Thursday, June 9 at 215 Little Dogie Road in Simonton at 7 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 11 at the Pavilion in Sargent.
    Mary Kay was born Sept. 9, 1948 to Arthur and Willie Mae (Miller) Hilton in East Bernard. She was raised in Simonton her entire childhood and lived there for most of her adult life as well.

    Brandy Alayne Westerfield

    A memorial service for Brandy Alayne Westerfield, age 31, of Montgomery, was held on Friday, May 27 in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Pastor Joshua Chhin-Lawrence officiating. Visitation was prior to the service until service time.
    Brandy was born Dec. 8, 1979 in Wharton and passed away on May 23, 2011 in Houston. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Westerfield of Montgomery; daughter, Abbygail Westerfield of Montgomery; mother, Adell Supak and husband Jerome; father, Howard Harbes and wife Patricia; sisters, Laramie Page and husband Derrick, Lori Watson and husband Rich of Florida and Chandra Welch and husband Jeff of Katy; brothers, Jerod Harbes and wife Bridget and Joshua Supak; and grandmother, Leona Supak.

    David Warren Friedrichs

    A memorial service for David Warren Friedrichs, 54, of Richmond was held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 9 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.
    Dave was born on Oct. 6, 1956 in Farmington, N.M to Walter David Friedrichs and Ruby Robinette (Clarkson) Friedrichs.
    Dave and Debbie were married on Jan. 29, 1982 in Wallis and resided in Richmond. For 26 years, Dave worked at Duke/Spectra Energy, most recently as a division technical specialist. He loved animals, a trait he passed on to his daughters. Dave liked being outdoors more than anything, and his heart belonged to his ranch in Goliad. David Warren Friedrichs passed away May 4, 2011 in Richmond.
    Dave was preceded in death by his parents.
    He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Debbie (Jemela) Friedrichs; three daughters Michelle Ann Friedrichs, Ashley Marie Friedrichs and Chelsey Nicole Friedrichs; along with his extended family, many friends, and his beloved beagle, Rocky.
    Memorial donations may be made in Dave’s name to The American Heart Association.
    Arrangements were under the direction of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, Rosenberg.
