Cut line Aggiefest Judging team

The Austin County 4-H Junior Livestock Judging Team judged at the 2009 Aggiefest Livestock Judging Contest in College Station on Saturday, Nov.7. Junior team members pictured left to right are: Molly Dittert, Cole Moses, Ben Shupak and Amber Adamcik. Adamcik was 4th place Junior Individual and Moses was 1st place Junior Individual.
Mighty Cougar Band advances to Area in San Antonio

The Mighty Cougar Band competed at the UIL Region E Marching Contest in El Campo on Saturday, Oct. 17 and received a Division 1. The band will now compete in the Area Marching Contest Saturday at East Central High School in San Antonio. There are 22 bands slated to perform in the 2A preliminaries. Judges will select the top 10 bands to perform at the finals that evening. After the final performance the top four bands will advance to state.
Tyler Wiggains, Cougar band director, was quick to brag on these young students.

Sulak chosen for TAMU Symphonic Band

Shelby Sulak, a freshman Biomedical Science major, has been chosen to perform with the Texas A&M Symphonic Band. For her audition with the band directors, she played pieces of chosen music from her high school Region and Area band on her euphonium. She also had to sight-read given sheets of music. Her concert schedule will be at Texas A&M in College Station at the Rudder Theatre at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 11, Nov. 22 and Feb. 28.
A final performance featuring both the University Symphonic and Concert bands at the MSC Fountain Area will be on April 17, 2010 at 11:30 a.m.

Garret Holub and Mason Marek dressed in their “ties” to lighten the tense mood of the tournament displaying their first place certificates.
Garret Holub and Mason Marek gave up a week of their summer and traveled to Boling High School to participate in the Legacy Communications Debate Camp. These young men learned debate theory, research techniques, constructive affirmative and negative case writing, argumentation skills and rhetoric, and how to dress professionally.
