Theatre class prepares for One Act Play, in need of 1800’s props

    Posted on February 5th, 2009

Ashley Watson is pretending to be blind and relies on Sashly Lanier for help. Ashley will play the part of Ann Sullivan, Helen’s teacher in the play and Sashly will be Helen’s mom, Kate Keller.
Nikki Nolen’s theater arts class is preparing for the UIL One Act Play competition on March 26. The play they will present is The Miracle Worker, a drama portraying Anne Sullivan’s first success in communicating with Helen Keller as a child, both blind and deaf since the age of 19 months. On Tuesday, the class learned a little of what it feels like to be blind as they had to rely on their partners to be their eyes for a while. The class is in need of a few props from the 1800’s including a water pump that works, a twin bed and a kitchen table set. Anyone who would like to contribute their treasures for a short time is asked to call the school at 979-478-6832.
