The Brazos Cougars and East Bernard Brahmas played like there was a title on the line in a double-overtime thriller, Feb. 2, at the Brazos Gymnasium. The Cougars prevailed with a 46-43 win.
A 7-19 score at the half did not accurately predict the finish of the game. Brazos scored 14 and 12 points respectively in the third and fourth quarters to tie the game 33-33 at the end of regulation.
Both teams played hard to the finish and a gym full of fans from both schools was loud and fully supportive of the squads.

The Cougarette basketball team is coming together under first year Head Coach Shawnya Minter as they evened their season mark at 2-2 this week.
The team started the week with a close loss at Bellville and improved the record with wins over Danbury and Boling.
“We made a lot of errors at Bellville,” said Coach Minter, “But, growth was evident. Then despite a dry spot in the third quarter with Danbury, they definitely showed signs of improvement and promise. We still have a lot of kinks to work out, but the players are becoming a team and the season looks promising.”
