Restoring this 1939 video from old film was not easy. You have to convert it to a medium that is current which in this case would be a DVD provided by Orchard Mayer, Rod Pavlock, to be viewed on the Wallis News Review website. The original DVD was created In December of 2005 by “Cameras Unlimited & Gifts†located in Rosenberg, Texas, by putting the original film into a compatible projector and using a video conversion box with a camcorder connected to a DVD recorder to create the DVD. Third Realm Communications, here in Wallis, took the original footage encoded on the DVD, and restored as much quality to the video as possible. There was a tremendous amount of grain, scratches, and lighting levels that were constantly changing in the original footage. By using proprietary as well as off-the-shelf restoration software, some of that degradation was cleaned up and corrected. You would not be able to see the result of the full restoration on the YouTube video posting though as YouTube compresses the video down to a manageable bit rate to accommodate the length of the video, but the original and restored versions will be available on the Wallis News website to the public by Third Realm Communications after the footage has been mastered to a complete DVD ISO image. Look for other videos to be up soon.
